ST. LOUIS, MO. (KTVI) - A St. Louis daycare is under investigation after a report of a toddler being found in the middle of the street Thursday afternoon, according to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.

The toddler was being cared for at Top of The Hill Home Daycare, according to police.
Witnesses reported seeing several other children on the side of Southwest Ave.

A woman by the name of JoAnn, who did not want to reveal her last name, told FOX 2 that she saw the incident.

“They were all there alone,” she said. “It blocked traffic, and it was pretty alarming.”

The daycare has a sign that reads “state licensed,” but according to the Department of Health And Senior Services, that license expired in March of 2013.

Police said the daycare is licensed with the city of St. Louis.

“I just really hope nothing like that happens there again,” JoAnn said. “Not only because of traffic, but those kids could be taken by someone.”

Police would not comment because it is an ongoing investigation.
