ELLISVILLE, MO (KTVI)-- Ellisville Police are looking for a robber who showed up at an 86-year-old woman's home posing as a UPS deliveryman.
"I opened the door and he said UPS. He had a brown jacket on and said UPS on it. He was holding the package up in front of him and he said sign," the woman said.
When the woman opened the storm door to receive the package, the robber forced his way into her home. "I said what do you want? He said I won't hurt you. I promise. I won't hurt you. I didn't know you were an old lady. Someone told me you were a young person. He said I'm sorry."
The woman believes someone was watching her at a Hollywood Casino and told the robber where to find her. "I go to the casino not really often. I play a penny machine. I'm not playing big money you know."
The robber tied the woman to the stove with black tape. "I kept thinking how am I going to get out of here? So I started to chew. In about 45 minutes I chewed my way through."
He searched her house, took ten dollars from her wallet and all of her jewelry, cherished family heirlooms. "He dumped both jewelry boxes with all my grandparent's jewelry, my mother's jewelry, my husbands jewelry. Everything I own. Then he apologized and kissed me on the cheek and said he was sorry. He said he had a ten year old boy with cancer and he needed the money."
Police canvassed the neighborhood all weekend and are following several leads, which could end with the robber behind bars.
