The shakeup of the Cardinals bullpen continued on Friday in Milwaukee. Cardinals General Manager John Mozeliak announced that closer Jason Motte's elbow is not responding after Motte's latest throws and he will have season ending surgery on his injured right elbow coming up on Monday. The Cardinals also sent struggling relief pitcher Mitchell Boggs down to their AAA minor league team in Memphis. The club has recalled 21 year old pitcher Carlos Martinez from Class AA Springfield. Martinez is the organization's top pitching prospect.
