ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - As rain fell Friday, many took a trip to local movie theaters to escape the miserable weather.  Ronnie’s 20 Cine in South County was very busy.  For some seeing summer blockbusters, like Iron Man 3, became the past time of choice.

According to reports, there are 50 percent more movies being released this summer compared to last year, bringing the tally close to 20. Movie companies are hoping to get more people through the doors and lines. When you add rain and other elements to the mix it can help kick start sales for local theaters.

Ken Mohr says he left work early to bring his kids to the movies to pick up their rainy day blues.

"The weather is all rainy and the kids were kinda down in the dumps so I cut out of work early got the kids out of school and we came here to see Iron Man 3." said Mohr

Grandmother Tracy Clark-Collier agrees.

"It's been wonderful for the past few days but today it’s like we can`t do anything on the weekend so I took the boys to the movies," said Clark-Collier.

Ronnie's has Iron Man 3 running on 7 theaters including the IMAX. But if you want to see it at the IMAX between 7 and 8 pm managers say you should show up early.  If you want to see it on a regular screen they have new shows every 30- minutes.
