Adam Wainwright pitched the Cardinals second straight shutout and flirted with a no-hitter in the Cardinals 3-0 win over Colorado on Saturday afternoon at Busch Stadium. Wainwright allowed just one walk before giving up his first hit of the game with one out in the top of the eighth inning. Wainwright did complete the game, allowing just two hits while striking out seven Rockies. The win improves Waino's season record to 5-2. It's the second straight shutout for Cardinals pitching. Rookie Shelby Miller tossed a one hitter on Friday night in the Cards win over Colorado.
In Saturday's win, Allen Craig started the scoring with a sac fly. Matt Adams drove in the second run of the game with a single to right. Yadier Molina padded the lead in the seventh inning with another RBI single.
The Cardinals (23-12) go for the sweep of the Rockies sending Jaime Garcia to the mound on Sunday. First pitch is at 1:15 PM at Busch Stadium.
