89 Charged Medicare Fraud

(KTVI) – Authorities arrested dozens of people in a major medicare fraud bust spanning eight cities .The US Justice Department says 89 people, including doctors and nurses, stole a total of $223 million from tax payer-funded programs.

The Medicare Fraud Strike Force carried out the bust. Officials say they arrested 25-people in Miami, accused of falsley billing $44 million in fake health care services.

Three suspects in Detroit allegedly made 12-million dollars by posing as doctors.

Charges were also levied against suspects in Louisiana, Houston, Los Angeles, Tampa, Chicago and Brooklyn.
