NEW YORK, NY – “The Queen Of Soul,” Aretha Franklin, has dropped out of two upcoming performances because of a medical issue.

Franklin was due to perform with the members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra on May 20th at an event honoring the city’s business community.

Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter Janelle Monãe will perform in her place.

In a press release, Franklin’s rep says the singer will be undergoing treatment during that time at the advice of her doctor.

The statement doesn’t say what the treatment is for.

Franklin has also pulled out of a performance at the foxwoods resort and casino in Connecticut.
