SAUGET, IL. (KTVI) - Illinois Governor Pat Quinn said his state will use jobs to fight crime.  Tuesday morning, he helped break ground on a new FEDEX facility in Sauget, Illinois.

Developers said the location on Sauget Industrial Parkway is perfect for the new ground distribution center.  The company will operate near the St. Louis Downtown Airport in Sauget and major highways.  Governor Quinn says the facility will eventually bring 175 full and part-time jobs to the area.

"We want to fight crime, and jobs are the best way to do it," he said.  "Making sure we support our law-enforcement at all times.  But, we also have to have a growing economy that people can have a good job to support their family on and stay away from crime."

The company is eligible for tax credits worth $459,000 over the next decade.  But, that is based on job creation.

The facility is set to open in august of 2014.
