KANSAS CITY, MO (KTVI) -  Social media is taking the wheel to steer a car in Kansas City.  The young engineers from the Mind-Drive Program converted an a VW Karmann Ghia into an electric car.

They then linked it to Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Every social media message sends more "juice" to the electric motor.  It was designed so that when it's stopped for charging, if it doesn't have enough "Social Fuel" then it wont start again.

Now, both the students and their mentors plan to drive their creation from Kansas City to Washington, DC to lobby lawmakers for more hands-on education.
