ST. PETERS, MO (KTVI) - The U.S. Postal Service will hold the first of several job fairs Tuesday.  They are looking for rural postal workers.

In this economy, any job fair can be good news.  But after a year of hearing about layoffs and post-office closings, Tuesday’s event is good news for both carriers and customers.

These job fairs come after a fiscal cliff scare that would have cancelled Saturday mail delivery.  The National Rural Letter Carriers Association stated such a move would have been devastating in areas where there is little broadband internet access and where customers would still need mail order medication.

But the U.S. Congress cited a mandate that would require Saturday delivery.  Legislators decided to keep the mandate after they passed funding to keep the government running.
