The Cardinals rallied from a 3-1 deficit with four 8th inning runs to come back and beat the Royals 5-3 on Wednesday night at Busch Stadium. Matt Holliday and Carlos Beltran homered in the come back effort. David Freese’s 8th inning single scored Allen Craig to tie the game at 3-3. Then pinch-hitter Daniel Descalso delivered with the bases loaded and two outs. Descalso singled up the middle to score the two go ahead runs. Edward Mujica then pitched a scoreless 9th inning for his 17th save of the season. Randy Choate picked up the win in relief. Lance Lynn pitched well, allowing two runs over seven innings pitched.

The win is the third straight for the Cardinals over Kansas City. The Cardinals go for the sweep on Thursday night when rookie pitcher and last year’s number one draft pick Michael Wacha starts for St. Louis.
