ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – It was a busy night for St. Louis police, as violence broke out in both north and south St. Louis neighborhoods.

Police are still searching for suspects in both incidents. Authorities do not believe the cases are connected.

A murder happened just after 1:00pm Thursday on Linton, near Blair in north St. Louis. Police say they arrived at the scene to find an African American man dead after being shot. He was in his 30s or 40s. Investigators found the man on the ground, next to an SUV.

The victim may have been trying to get into that SUV.

Then an hour later, police rushed to the Dutchtown neighborhood in south St. Louis after receiving numerous calls for shots fired near Miami and Minnesota. Investigators found many shell casings in that area from what appeared to be an assault rifle. Callers reported hearing 15-20 shots.

No people were hit by the shots, but houses and cars were apparently hit.
