ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)-- Expect to see more beefed-up police patrols downtown this summer.

Mayor Francis Slay and the police department announced there will be an increased police presence, especially during events like music festivals and ball games.

In addition, Lumiere Place Casino is paying for more patrol officers on Laclede's Landing.

Officers are now empowered to do everything from shut down streets to all traffic to closing clubs and restaurants that may become nuisances.
