Cardinals Win Both Games of Doubleheader, Outscore Giants 15-1

Saturday at Busch Stadium was a total success for the Cardinals as they won both games of the day-night doubleheader over the Giants. In Game One, the Cardinals hit Giants starting pitcher Matt Cain for seven third inning runs and cruised to an 8-0 win. Shelby Miller pitched seven shutout innings to improve his season record to 6-3. Tony Cruz and Daniel Descalso each contributed two hits and two RBI to the victory.

In the second game of the doubleheader, Adam Wainwright pitched a complete game allowing just one run and striking out ten as the Cardinals slammed the Giants again, 7-1. Wainwright's masterpiece raised his season record to 8-3. Carlos Beltran and Ty Wigginton each drove in two runs in the winning effort.
