(CNN) — Pakistan’s foreign affairs ministry has summoned U.S. charges d’affaires Ambassador Richard Hoagland “to lodge a strong protest on the U.S. drone strike carried out in North Waziristan” on Friday, the Pakistan government’s spokesman office said.

Pakistani intelligence officials say the strike killed at least six militants.

“Pakistan strongly condemns the drone strikes which are a violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The importance of bringing an immediate end to drone strikes was emphasized,” the government said.
