Husband Charged with Murder for Stabbing Wife in Granite City

GRANITE CITY, IL (KTVI) – A husband has been charged with murdering his estranged wife in the street.  Police say Tyrone Stainback, 42, stabbed Marissa Stainback, 34, in Granite City on Tuesday.  She was taken to Gateway Regional Medical Center and later pronounced dead.

A police report states that the victim was walking on Northgate Industrial Drive with another man at around 4pm.  They say Tyrone Stainback approached the two and then stabbed Marissa.  Police responding to the situation were able to find the suspect and take him into custody without resistance.

Tyrone L Stainback has been charged with murder in the first degree.  There is no bond set on the warrant signed by the judge.  He will be taken to Madison County Jail on Wednesday night.
