DES PERES, MO (KTVI)-- It’s a garage sale so big they have to hold it in the gym at St. Clements Grade School in Des Peres located off Bopp Road.

Inside you’ll find the gym packed to the rafters with all kinds of clothing, sporting goods, furniture and holiday decorations.  They call it “The Garage Sale for God’s Poor” because all proceeds benefiting the Melissa’s Hope Orphanage in Haiti.

The orphanage is home to 20 children, with half of them handicapped.  They also teach 65 other children there.  The orphanage is located in a flood zone and the dirty water frequently flows through the camp resulting in frequent outbreaks of disease.

Last year the garage sale raised $38k for the orphanage, this year they are shooting to push that $50k.

Thursday night is a special preview night that runs through 8pm.  They will open bright and early at 7am Friday and again Saturday.  For more on the “Garage Sale for God’s Poor” and Melissa’s Hope Orphanage, check the links below.
