Shooting At Utah Church Targeted At Father-In-Law

OGDEN, UT – Charles Richard Jennings, 35 allegedly waked into a Catholic church in Ogden Utah and shot his his father-in-law in the back of the head.  It happened during the 11:30am at Saint James the Just Catholic Church.

Jennings fled in a stolen pick up truck but was apprehended a short time later.  Police do not have a motive, but believe it was a domestic violence-related incident.

“This was not a random act of violence, this was a very specific desired target and action taken by the suspect” said Lt. Danielle Croyle of thre Ogden City police dept.

More than 100 people were inside the building at the time. All bearing witness to the shooting at point blank range. Some members of the congregation say the scene left some in shock, while others passed out.

The victim, whose name has not been released, has been taken to an area hospital. As for the suspect, he has been booked on charges of attempted aggravated criminal homicide and aggravated robbery.
