Lynn Wins 10th, Holliday Homers in 6-1 Win over Cubs

Lance Lynn became the Cardinals second ten game winner this season in the team’s 6-1 win over the Cubs on Thursday night at Busch Stadium. Lynn pitched six innings, allowing just one run while striking out six Cubs to raise his record to 10-1 on the season. Adam Wainwright is the other Cardinals ten game winner.

Matt Holliday had two hits and drove in two runs, including his 11th home run of the year. The Cardinals broke open a 2-1 game with four runs in the 6th inning. Holliday home run made it 3-1. Allen Craig’s two run pinch hit single brought home two runs to make it a 5-1 lead. Matt Carpenter closed out the scoring in the 6th with an RBI single.

The Cardinals took three of the four games in the series with the Cubs. St. Louis is now 47-26 on the season, a season best 21 games over .500. The Texas Rangers come to Busch Stadium this weekend for a rematch with the Cardinals. The two teams have not played since the Cardinals won the 2011 World Series over the Rangers.
