WELLSTON, MO (KTVI)-- A member of the Wellston City Council was charged with third degree assault Wednesday.

Helen Jackson is accused of grabbing the arm of Wellston resident Barbara Wilson at Monday's meeting at Wellston City Hall.

FOX 2 cameras captured the confrontation. It ended after Wellston Police Chief G.T. Walker restrained Jackson.

Wilson filed a police report and then she was taken to a hospital.

She spoke exclusively with FOX 2.

"She grabbed and snatched my arm and said she was going to beat my you know what," Wilson said. "I have a pulled muscle in my arm."

Jackson told Fox 2 she is innocent and that she was "upset and hurt" by the situation.

She also said that Wilson had been harassing her leading up to the meeting.

The clash ended the meeting. The council was expected to vote of the future of former Pine Lawn Police Chief Rickey Collins.

He was appointed as a Major with the Wellston Police Department days after being fired from the Pine Lawn Police Department.

Wilson is against the move, but Jackson supports it.

The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday. The council is expected to vote on the future of Collins.

Jackson will have a court date for the assault charge.
