Gov. Nixon Vetoes Bill To Double Drivers’ License Fees

JEFFERSON CITY, MO (KTVI) – A bill that passed the Missouri senate would have cost Missourians $22 million in new and increased fees at Missouri Department of Transportation offices. According to a statement from the Governor’s office the bill would have doubled the fees to obtain or renew drivers’ licenses without providing any improvement in services.

Missouri Senate Bill 51 would have also added a new $2.00 for people living in St. Louis city, St. Louis county, Franklin, Jefferson and  St. Charles.  The fee was for electronically verifying the status of residents’ vehicle emissions inspections.
