Supreme Court delivers mixed opinions on same-sex marriageST. LOUIS, MO. (KTVI) — After the Supreme Court ruling on same-sex marriage couples came down Wednesday morning, the outcry of support rose on Twitter and other social media websites.

President Barack Obama was one of the first officials to tweet about the Supreme Court decision calling it historical:

Hashtags like #SCOTUS, #loveislove  #Marriage Equality trended worldwide for most of the morning, even though there were mixed opinions about the court’s decision.

Opponents claim the decision goes against moral standards that define marriage as a union between and man and a woman.

Despite division over the ruling, the Supreme Court’s ruling is considered a significant benchmark in American history.
