HAZELWOOD, MO (KTVI) – Summer camps are in full swing across St. Louis. Summer camp is the place where kids get to be themselves, and that includes being stylish and cool all at the same time.

To help parents with ideas about how to dress their kids for camp, Julia Cross from the St. Louis Outlet Mall stopped by with some great looks to keep the kids cool.

Anything Tie Dye
Tie-dye dresses, shorts and shirts are a popular summer trend and perfect for any camp day.  It`s a fun, easy way to spice up a plain outfit because the design can be so unique and versatile.

Bright Colors
Bright and bold colors rock for kids this season such as hot pink, green, orange and bright blue. These colors can be worked together with the color blocking trend - where you match two bold colors in an outfit; say pink and orange or dark blue and purple.

Breathable Fabrics
Shirts made of cotton or real wetsuit materials are the 'cool items' for boys and girls this summer. Many brands even have built-in SPF to protect a child's skin from the sun on those hot days. Cotton shirts with graphic prints are also hot season, which means a lot of cartoons, patterns along with catchy and cute one-liners on kids` tees.

Hair Turbans
A new trend is the hair turban, a popular hair accessory that can be created with a simple scarf or pieces of knotted or twisted fabric. These cute headbands are useful to wear when your hair isn`t behaving or you just need it out of your face. It`s a simple alternative to just a headband.

Retro Sunglasses and Straw Hats
Eighties-inspired sunglasses continue to be trendy for kids and teens. From neon colors to tortoise-shell varieties, any camper will want a few pairs to change up their look and protect their eyes. Be sure to get them a pair that has UV protection. For the trendsetter, straw hats are this season`s hottest look.

Fashionable Tennis Shoes
Most camps require covered toes to keep active kiddos from tripping. For kids, many fashionable sneakers are available in countless styles.
