ST. CLAIR, MO (KTVI) – A 45-year-old man is safe after he was missing for several hours Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning near St. Clair, Missouri.

The man was found by St. Clair Fire Protection District crews just before 5:00am Wednesday after nearly four hours of searching.

Investigators say the man left his home around 6:00pm Tuesday in a golf cart to go fishing.

His home is right across the street from the Meramec Lakes Golf Course where the search unfolded. The course is just off Highway 30, close to St. Clair and the Meramec River.

We’re told the man’s wife woke up around 1:00am Wednesday and realized he was not home. She got worried, called authorities and the search started.

Authorities tell us the man rolled his golf cart and became lost and disoriented in the golf course area.

A Franklin County Sheriff’s Department corporal tells us he had been drinking.

Fire crews found him within the golf course.

He is ok and was not transported.

A helicopter and canine crews were en route to the scene when he was found.

No charges were expected to be filed.
