ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - When the Cardinals left for this most recent road trip, they had just suffered a sweep at the hands of the Texas Rangers. But all was well because they were still two games ahead of the Pittsburgh Pirates for first place in the Central Division. Now, that lead is gone, and the Cardinals are looking up in the standings.

Cardinal fans do not need reminding how the last 11 games including the most recent road trip have gone. The Cardinals followed up a near franchise best month of May, with a very average month of June. Since the last week in May, the Cardinals have posted a sub-.500 record, going 15 and 17 in their last 32 games. But most cardinals fans don't seem to be worried about this late and post-June swoon.

Thankfully for Cardinals fans, the Redbirds stood 21 games over the .500 mark before this 3 and 8 slump. The hot start to the season is keeping them in the race at the halfway point of the season. So, while the last two weeks have been more than forgettable for the cards, their fans are not pushing the panic button just yet.

While most cardinal fans are not worried about the team, they are a little bitter about losing the series to Albert Pujols and the Angels Thursday night in the 9th.
