Belleville East Grad, Broncos Exec Matt Russell Charged with DUI

(KTVI) – Matt Russell, the Director of Player Personnel for the Denver Broncos, was arrested for DUI over the weekend after he ran into a police car.

According to, Russell reportedly hit a citizen’s car in Frisco Saturday.  Minutes later, he rear-ended a police officer’s cruiser. That officer was out looking for him in relation to the first accident.

Russell, who graduated from Belleville East High School, is facing DUI and open alcohol container charges as well as failure to provide proof of insurance and careless driving.

“I deeply regret the poor judgment I demonstrated that resulted in my arrest over the weekend,” Russell said in a statement. “I’m ashamed that I represented this region and the Broncos organization in the manner that I did. I take complete responsibility for my actions and will be fully accountable. Going forward, I will take steps to ensure this never happens again.”
