ST. LOUIS, MO. (KTVI) — It’s mid-summer and many recent high school graduates  are running around getting ready for the move to College campuses across the country.  It’s a time that is both scary and exciting.  To make the transition easier  vocalist Terisa Griffin brings her awesome Trunk Event to St. Louis Sunday July 14, 2013.
What is it?  The event assists young college-bound women and men by supplying them with dormitory and off campus living supplies.  Better Love Yourself BLY mentors and addresses issues including positive self esteem, health, and mental wellness geared to form a positive resolve in the lives of determined young women and men.

Better Love Yourself is committed to nurturing and supporting young college bound women and man. Our goal is to provide financial assistance, “Dorm Starter Trunks”, and mentors for students in need of a helping hand. The generous support of our donors affords BLY the opportunity to provide supplemental scholarships for daily living, special projects, and emergency funds. Our Dorm Starter Trunks are filled with supplies that come in handy for students. Supplies include: detergent, towels, pens and paper, backpacks, blankets, sheets, etc. – all items that help students get through a rainy day. Our mentoring program pairs students with adults who have been through the college experience. These individuals provide young students with advice and guidance on issues such as learning to cope with living on their own.

Following the mentoring session, students and their parents enjoy a  meal.  Then they receive their trunks.  The evening is capped off with an awesome performance by Terisa Griffin.  The workshops are not open to the public.  The public is invited t to the concert.    Tickets are $25.00 and can be bought in advance at Vintage Vinyl and Lola’s.  Tickets will also be available at  the door.
