EAST ST. LOUIS, IL (KTVI)-- FOX 2 has reaction about the George Zimmerman trial from East St. Louis, the home of Trayvon Martin’s dad Tracy.

We spoke to a friend of the Martin family who says at times the trial has been hard to watch.

Stephanie Miles has a lot to say when it comes to the George Zimmerman trial. The East St. Louis native has been in touch with the family of Trayvon Martin for more than two years. She helped to organize a visit with the family at a local church last year, to talk about ways to stop senseless shootings with East St. Louis youth.

Miles says Tracy Martin and Sabrina Fulton serves as symbols of hope and bravery, but it also pains her to see them grieve with millions of others watching.

Attorney Chet Pleblan says the racial, social and media issues with the case are what makes it a draw for others to watch. He also says there were a lot of problems with both sides of the case and Zimmerman could get convicted of manslaughter.

At this point, the jury is still out on Zimmerman, but no matter what miles says it’s a tragedy no matter how things turn out.

Deliberations are expected to continue Saturday morning.
