Teen charged in hit & run accident that killed boy

CAHOKIA, IL (KTVI)-- Charges have been filed against a metro east teen accused in a hit and run that killed a 9-year-old Cahokia boy.

Seventeen-year-old Kevin Powell is facing multiple counts in the death of 9-year-old Fabian Teson.

Kevin Powell Powell was charged with Reckless Homicide, Failure to Report an Accident Involving, Obstruction of Justice – destruction of Evidence, Driving without a Valid Driver’s License, 2 counts of Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident and Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle. Bond was set at $100,000.

Fabian was riding his bike along Lorraine Drive in Cahokia when he was hit.

He died at Cardinal Glennon last Saturday. A tip helped police find the car that was involved in the crash on the riverfront.

After a two day search, they managed to find Powell at a relative's home.

The victim's funeral was held earlier Thursday evening.

Screenshot_1Police have also charged two more people in connection to this crime.  Devan Harris, 17, has been charged with two counts of Obstruction of Justice.  His bond is set at $20,000.






Alysa Sherwood, 25, has been charged with two counts of Obstruction of justice, permitting an unauthorized person to drive and renting a motor vehicle to an unauthorized driver.  Her bond is set at $30,000.
