(KTVI) - Going to the movies can be a bad experience for a young person affected by autism. The sights and loud sounds on the screen is often too much stimulation for an autistic child.

But there is a solution.  The Autism Society and other related organizations are now promoting special screenings of sensory-friendly films.  They will now be shown in the St. Louis area beginning Saturday morning at special showings.

Olivia Albers is an occupational therapist who says the first one up is TURBO at 9am this Saturday, July 20th, followed by SMURFS 2 on August 3rd at 9am.
