ALTON, IL. (KTVI) - It was a day for redemption for people who have run afoul of the law in Alton.  Saturday's amnesty day allowed people with outstanding misdemeanor warrants to arrange payments of fines, set new court dates and get failure to appear warrants dropped.
The warrants were for non-arrest traffic, misdemeanor citations and city ordinance violations.
The failure to appear is either forgiven, quashed or reset, but the original charges still stand.
