ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)- The St. Louis Cardinals placed outfielder Matt Holliday on the 15-day disabled list Saturday, retroactive to July 12.  Holliday has been battling a strained right hamstring.

The Cardinals have purchased right-handed hitting first baseman/outfielder Brock Peterson from their AAA team in Memphis.  Peterson is expected to be in uniform for Saturday’s game against San Diego, wearing #41.

Peterson, along with AAA pitcher Michael Wacha, was recently named to the Pacific Coast League All-Star team.

Holliday injured his hamstring in a July 11, 2013 game at Chicago. He has not appeared in a game since then.
