(KTVI)-Just because the Cardinals Hall of Fame Museum is currently closed, doesn’t mean they aren’t working to preserve St. Louis’ baseball history. They have just acquired several new pieces from the family of George "Watty" Watkins. Watkins played for the Cardinals from 1930 until 1933.

In the 1931 World Series, Watkins hit a game winning home run off pitcher George Earnshaw of the Philadelphia Athletics in the 7th game to win it for the Cardinals.

The new home for the museum will be in Ballpark Village. The Hall of Fame Museum’s website meantime has a virtual look at the team's collection.
