Lance Lynn pitched seven strong innings, allowing just one run in winning his 12th game of the season, a 3-1 Cardinals victory over the Phillies on Thursday night at Busch Stadium. The win completes a 5-1 home stand for the Cardinals.

In Thursday’s win, the Cards scored all their runs in the third inning. Matt Carpenter started the scoring with an RBI single. Jon Jay was the next batter and he tripled in Carpenter to make it 2-0. Matt Adams capped the inning with a run scoring single to right.

Lynn struck out six in raising his season record to 12-5. The Pirates lost at Washington on Thursday, so the Cardinals pick up a game on Pittsburgh and now lead the NL Central by two and half games.

The Cardinals now begin an 11 game road trip with three games in Atlanta, five in Pittsburgh and three in Cincinnati.
