O'FALLON, MO (KTVI)-- It’s a big prize for a good cause. The St. Jude Dream Home is ready and now all you have to do is buy your ticket.
We stopped by the St. Jude Dream Home in O'Fallon earlier and people were there to get a sneak peek. Hoping to win but there's more to the home than just beauty, it was built to help save lives.
The dream of Danny Thomas lives on at St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis to improve the lives of kids who are dealing with childhood cancer.
Corrietta ziegler`s 4 year-old daughter, Iya, has been fighting stage 4 neuroblastoma for most of her life. Corietta says she`s grateful to the hospital for giving her time with her only child. She’s one of many parents who are thankful for the financial and housing assistance provided by the hospital.
"I love being with my child I don`t know how much time I have with her but the donations allow me to be with her for as much time as she has here and I appreciate it," said Ziegler.
There are 78 beds, hundreds of researchers, doctors and staff on hand and it costs $1.8 million per day to keep the doors at the hospital open. At least 8,000 patients visit every year. The dream home drawing is one of the many ways to show support.
So again that drawing is set for September 6th and the house can be yours for $100. The money raised goes to a good cause.
