Woman delivers baby after being stabbed by man

WAYNESVILLE, MO (KTVI) – A woman gave birth after being stabbed at a truck stop in Pulaski County.

The 30-year-old pregnant woman and a male friend were involved in an argument at a Road Ranger Truck Stop on Wednesday morning.  The man stabbed her in the stomach during the domestic dispute.  She was then rushed to the hospital where the baby was delivered by cesarean section.  She was also treated for a stab wound.

The mother and the child are recovering at the hospital.

Mark Downing, 28, was arrested after the stabbing.  He was involved in a short altercation with police.  He being held in the Pulaski County Jail on two counts of First Degree Assault.  His bond has been set at $1,000,000.
