(KTVI) – Search and rescue crews have found the body of the snowboarder who was buried by an avalanche on mount hood.

Police say about two tons of ice and snow collapsed on 25-year-old Collin Backowski yesterday.

A spokesperson says workers used hand tools for close to three hours to get to him.

Six snowboarders were traveling through an ice tunnel when it collapsed.

Backowski was about thirty-to-forty feet ahead of the group.

The other five were able to escape.

Police say the group was scouting locations on the mountain to shoot a video when the avalanche happened.
