Trevor Rosenthal failed to hold a 4-2 eighth inning Cardinals lead and the Cubs beat the Cardinals for the second straight night, winning 6-5 on Saturday night at Busch Stadium. The Cardinals had built their lead on a three run home run by Matt Holliday and an RBI double by Carlos Beltran. Michael Wacha, just recalled from AAA Memphis was in line for a victory after allowing just two runs in five innings pitched.

But Rosenthal surrendered a game tieing two run double to the Cubs Darwin Barney in the fateful eighth inning to tie the game at 4-4. Pinch hitter Dioner Navarro gave the Cubs a 5-4 lead with another double off Rosenthal to score Barney with the go ahead run. Matt Holliday hit his second home run of the game in the 9th inning, but the solo shot could only get the Cardinals as close as 6-5.

Joe Kelly will pitch for the Cardinals on Sunday as they try to avoid being swept by the arch rival Cubs.
