Amtrak may sets new ridership record

WASHINGTON, D.C. (KTVI) – July was the best month ever for Amtrak troubled history.  Ridership for the month July was 2.9 million Americans riding the rails to get to their destination.  That represents a 4.8% increase over July of 2012.

Ridership increased on all Amtrak routes:

  • Inter-city
  • Northeast corridor
  • State sponsored routes
  • And long distance routes

Amtrak is expecting strong tickets sales for the rest of the year and fiscal year, to which Amtrak may beat its all-time yearly ridership record of 31.2 million passengers.
