Kelly Wins Again, Cards Beat Braves 6-2

Joe Kelly continues to be the Cardinals most effective starting pitcher down the stretch of this season, Kelly pitched six innings, allowing just two runs in the Redbirds 6-2 win over the Atlanta Braves on Thursday night at Busch Stadium.

The win improves Kelly’s season record to 5-3. The Cardinals top three hitters in the lineup combined for six of the team’s nine hits and drove in three of the club’s runs. David Freese added two RBI in the win. The Cardinals blew the game open in the 5th inning with back to back to back doubles by Matt Carpenter, Carlos Beltran and Matt Holliday gave the Cards a 4-2 lead.
