Wainwright Beats Braves 3-1, Westbrook Goes on Disabled List

Adam Wainwright pitched one of the best game for the Cardinals on Friday night in the club's 3-1 win over the Braves on Friday night at Busch Stadium. Wainwright threw 128 pitches and a complete game. He allowed just one run on six hits, while walking no one and striking out nine Braves. The win gives Waino the most in the National League (15). Matt Holliday's 432 foot solo home run gave the Cardinals the lead for good at 2-1.

The Cardinals also announced that starting pitcher Jake Westbrook is being placed on the 15 day disabled list with a lower back strain. Tyler Lyons will make Westbrook's next start, coming up this Monday against the Cincinnati Reds. Cardinals manager Mike Matheny comments on the disabling of Westbrook and Lyons' chance.
