(KTVI) –  There’s a follow-up on a federal drug case against former St. Clair County circuit judge Michael Cook.

The Belleville News-Democrat reports the trial will now be heard from a judge outside the Southern Illinois Jurisdiction.

The presiding judge removed himself from the case but did not reveal why. Michael Cook has been charged with possessing heroin and of being a heroin user while possessing a firearm.

He has pleaded not guilty and faces an October trial.
