The Cardinals got nine consecutive hits in their seven run 7th inning to build a 12-1 lead, then had to hang on for a 12-8 win over first place Pittsburgh. Jon Jay and Carlos Beltran had three hits each, Jay driving in three runs. Matt Carpenter and Matt Holliday had two hits each with Holliday driving in two runs. Yadier Molina’s three run homer in the big 7th inning traveled 415 feet!

Joe Kelly got the win again as he continues to be the Cardinals best pitcher down the stretch. Kelly pitched six innings, allowing just one run to raise his season record to 8-3. The win was huge for the Redbirds as they close to just a half game back of the first place Pirates with two games remaining in this series.
