Firefighter injured while battling North City apartment fire

NORTH ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)- A firefighter was injured while battling a fire in north St. Louis Sunday. Around 11am, firefighters were called to the 3500 block of Franklin Ave., near N. Grand Blvd., for a first alarm apartment fire in the Blumeyer Apartments. 

The fire had started in the kitchen of the unit.  There was heavy smoke when crews arrived.  The fire was quickly put out.

The only reported injury was to a firefighter who suffered a shoulder injury. He was transported to Barnes Hospital. He was expected to be treated and released.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
