ST. CHARLES, MO (KTVI)-- It looked like a Geyser was erupting Tuesday morning on New Town Boulevard in St. Charles.
The cover blew off the underground valve of a 16 inch main, sending water gushing 30 feet high at the Fountain Lakes Commerce Center.
This is the second time in less than a week that the St. Charles city water department has had to deal with a break. On Friday, a 36 inch main broke in St. Peters cutting off service to 120,000 residents and leading to a boil order all weekend.
There was no boil order Tuesday, but for the second time since Friday, the Moto Mart on New Town Boulevard lost its water service.
The public works director tells FOX 2 News the reason the bolts blew was they were corroded by that area`s highly acidic soil.
The valve was repaired Tuesday afternoon, and the water supply is back to normal.
