Wentzville man charged with robbery, shooting state trooper

WARRENTON, MO (KTVI) – Charges have now been filed against a Wentzville man who police say robbed a bank and then shot a Missouri state trooper.  Warren Gladders, 64, is charged with first degree assault against a law enforcement officer, armed criminal action, and robbery.

Gladders is accused of robbing a Dutzow, MO bank on Friday morning. After a witness gave a description of the getaway car, Gladders was stopped near the St. Charles County town of New Melle.  That’s when a shootout occurred.

Gladders got out and began shooting at the trooper, who was struck in the chest where the bullet got lodged is his bullet proof vest. The trooper returned fire striking the subject in both legs.

Bail is set at $500,000.
