Saving energy in your home
(KTVI) – It feels like fall outside. And when temperatures drop, your electric bill will climb. To make sure your heat stays in your home, seal gaps around the doors and windows.
Other ways to cut down on your electric bill include unplugging energy-draining electronics. Your television and computer are the biggest energy suckers. If you can’t remember to unplug them, buy adapters with built-in timers.
Also, change the time of day you use the oven, do laundry or run the heather. It can cost 30 to 60 percent more to operate electronics during peak hours, which are usually between 6:00 – 10:00 a.m. and 3 p.m. – 9 p.m. Weekends are “off peak.”
