Bus falls off cliff in Peru, killing all 52 people aboard
LIMA, Peru (CNN) — A bus carrying 52 people, including children, veered off a cliff Saturday, killing everyone aboard, in the Peruvian province of La Convencion, an official said.
The passengers, who included many members of one family, were traveling to a celebration in the Santa Teresa district, said Juan Carlos Valverde, the under attorney general in the province.
An unspecified number of children were among those killed, he said.
Authorities were still recovering bodies Saturday from the 200-meter-high (656-foot-high) cliff, Valverde said.
No further details were immediately available, he said.
