Doe Run (3)

HERCULANEUM, MO (KTVI) – Job cuts are coming to the Doe-Run lead smelter.

The Saint Louis “Post Dispatch” reports that about 145-workers will lose their jobs at the end of December because the Herculaneum plant will close.

The EPA says the company decided to close its plant instead of installing pollution control technologies.

The Doe-Run plant has operated for more than a century and is the last remaining lead smelter in the US.
