(KTVI) - The Missouri is the longest river in North America.  It stretches 2,341 miles and winds through seven states before spilling into the Mississippi.

And that final 100 miles is the focus of the new coffee table book, Missouri River Country.

The author, Dan Burkhardt, stopped by the studio to share his history with the river and what inspired him to write the book.

Burkhardt is very involved in the preservation and conservation of areas surrounding the Missouri River.

Proceeds from the sale of Missouri River Country will benefit the Katy Land Trust, Magnificent Missouri and The Nature Conservancy.

These organizations support Missouri conservation causes and to better connect Missourians with the countryside around them.

The Missouri Botanical Garden will host a book signing for Dan Burkhardt on Monday, October 21.

The signing will be held at the Garden Gate Shop and copies of the book will be available for purchase.
